The Application Support Analyst is responsible for supporting, monitoring, maintaining, and operating middle and back-office production applications at SM&T. This role entails delivering ongoing application release cycle changes, onboarding new applications, and providing high-quality operational and technical support to internal business functions. The successful candidate will possess experience in providing application support in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate proactive support capabilities.

What You Will do

As the Application Support Engineer for incident and service request fulfilment across the middle and back-office application portfolio, you will ensure seamless operations by clarifying requirements with the business and ensuring timely completion of tasks.

You’ll run problem management processes involving identifying underlying issues, providing short-term workarounds, and collaborating with development teams for long-term fixes. Your efforts will contribute to enhancing application stability.

Effective management of major production incidents is key in this role. You will take ownership of incidents until closure, providing regular updates and minimising downtime/disruption to operations. Deployment of application code on production and pre-production environments will also be part of your responsibilities. This includes managing business communications and ensuring post-release environment availability to support smooth operations.

You will review and approve change requests requiring application support oversight, ensuring adherence to established processes and standards. Proactively identifying application improvements in performance, availability, and automation of repetitive tasks will be essential for enhancing operational efficiency.

You’ll conduct daily morning and evening checks for critical applications and providing status reports to the IT Operations Team, maintaining application health and stability.

Building and maintaining working relationships with the business community & IT community will be essential for increasing customer knowledge, capability, and system satisfaction.

What You Will Bring
• Several years’ of experience as an application support analyst.
• Knowledge of the trade lifecycle and SQL/SQL queries
• Knowledge of the Windows platform.
• Experience with end-of-day batch processing and business reporting is advantageous.
• Understanding of energy trading industry concepts such as PnL, settlement processes, and risk management.

Skills and Competencies

Mandatory:
• Experience with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems.
• Experience with ZEMA (ZE)
• Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
• Ability to follow defined processes and prioritize workload to meet strict service level agreements.
• Capacity to work autonomously and manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Technical proficiency in MS Windows Server and MS SQL, along with web technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience in maintaining positive working relationships with internal departments, as well as third-party vendors and hosting providers.

Advantageous:
• Experience with PowerShell, Active Batch, VBA, Power BI, or TFS.
• Experience in the financial services or energy trading sectors.
• Familiarity with trading applications and interfaces.
• Understanding of the ITIL framework.
