Job Title: Area Manager – Approved Premises
Reporting to: Head of Offender Services
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Interview Date: 20th March 2023
About the service/department
For 50 years Hestia has provided support focused on recovery and rehabilitation, and for the last 45 years has provided accommodation and support services to offenders and ex-offenders across a range of settings. Our offender rehabilitation services recognise the impact of trauma on those who commit crimes. Regardless of the cause of this distress, we adopt the same trauma-informed approach in our offender services as we do across the organisation.
Our Approved Premises provide intensive supervision and rehabilitative support for people released on licence from prison. As well as playing an important role in monitoring and managing the risk of their residents, our services also provide key workers and a programme of purposeful activities designed to reduce re-offending and help with reintegration back into the community.
As the Area/Strategic Manager, you will lead on the strategic delivery of the Hestia AP portfolio, which currently includes management of a large male establishment and the only female AP estate in London, and its place within the wider rehabilitative network. Through effective project, person and stakeholder management, you will ensure that the delivery of these services meet not only the requirements of statutory agencies, but also those of the residents.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive management experience (both people and services), ideally within the Criminal Justice sector, and will have knowledge relating to risk management, public protection and supporting vulnerable groups. Practical experience and understanding of how to support individuals affected by trauma whilst maintaining professional boundaries would be advantageous.
About the role
The main purpose of this role is to provide effective management and leadership with responsibility for resources, the strategic direction and operational management of Hestia’s Approved Premises (AP), ensuring delivery of performance and quality targets within a framework of effective risk management and public protection. There are currently two female and one male approved premises in London
