Job Description

As part of our 2025 growth plan we looking to appoint an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our office in central London. This role will have the flexibility to be based both at home and the office, allowing for a more fluid work-life balance.

The successful Associate will join a National Building Services discipline, working closely with the Director to grow our existing coverage across London and the South East.

This role will suitan experienced and well-established Senior/ Principal Mechanical Engineerwho is looking for the next step in their career. Alternatively, an Associate Mechanical Engineer who is seeking a new challenge, within a multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy.

As Associate, you will be responsible for managing and delivering designs for a wide range of innovative and challenging projects in a variety of sectors – with a strong focus on working with our existing public sector clients. Along with some pastoral and line management responsibility.

Main responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Framework, technical and client management, managing a large variety of projects in terms of size, type and complexity
  • Responsible for framework cost management, consultancy, feasibility, design, project management, construction and contract management
  • Deputises for the Director, chairs meetings and represents the firm in dealings with clients and contractors
  • Provides expert opinion where appropriate
  • Undertakes business development and a ssists with bid proposals/preparation and client presentations

  • Supervises team of engineers and technicians ensuring projects are delivered to the requisite quality, on time and on budget
  • Keeps abreast of new developments and cascades information
  • Responsible for ensuring that they and their team understand and comply with all Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures
About You

We are seeking an experienced professional who has the desire and capabilities to develop their career within a people and client orientated construction and property consultancy.

  • HND/Degree or equivalent professional qualification in building services
  • Design experience with consultant or contractor
  • Knowledge of construction industry design processes and procurement arrangements
  • Experience in day to day control of internal costs and r esource planning and management experience
  • Ability to develop new business
  • Awareness of electrical services principles
  • Knowledge of H&S / CDM requirements
  • Basic computer familiarity (Microsoft Office package)
  • Mechanical design software experience - Hevacomp
  • Heating – cooling, ventilation and domestic water services system design experience
  • Knowledge of specification writing / NBS Engineering
  • Team player
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Ability to manage time with multiple tasks and work to deadlines
