WHO ARE WE?
Onmo is looking for a talented, organised and detail-oriented Back-End Tech Lead to join our growing product development team.
Onmo is on a quest to be the world’s most proactive bank. We improve lives by providing better clarity, intelligence, and technology to empower every individual in making the smartest financial decisions.
The founding team is in place and in October we launched our fully functional app supporting a debit account and credit card. We will be broadening our portfolio soon with the foundations in place for a positive, supportive, and thoughtful new bank.
This is where you come in. You will be responsible for the back end across all of our ambitions for our app, website, and internal systems, that together, will be the beating heart of the UK’s newest bank. Our new Back End Tech Lead enters at an incredible time for the business; we have our FCA licence (which is a huge achievement) and with funding secured, a compelling and realistically ambitious plan.
Our team is based in London and supported by a retained development agency, strategic/creative expertise, and UX specialists. You will be joining as we grow the team and talent base.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU?
Significant Software Development & Technical Architecture experience
Experience of Node.js development (other languages desirable)
Back-office system integration, including integration design patterns
Experience leading a team, ideally including 3rd party developers
Cloud Experience, ideally AWS – if you’re certified that would be great
Experience designing & developing modern serverless architectures
You will have worked closely with front-end developers and UI / UX teams to support customer-facing product development (ideally both app and website)
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Oversight of back-end engineering
Work with engineering and the business to identify demand and optimise team structures.
Stay up to date on best practises for back-end software development, dev/ops, and cloud and define blueprints / approaches for the team
Develop back-end and cloud architecture
Work with stakeholders (business, product managers, designers, developers, and testers) to help us shape our plans
Assist with the non-functional evaluation and implementation of new business systems
Help to define, champion, and enforce our technology principles, standards, and practises
