Job Description

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading providers of mental health, learning disability and drug & alcohol services for people of all ages in Southern England. We deliver high quality care across our 140 services, employing more than 3,000 staff across 39 sites, serving a population of 1.3 million, with an income of over £350m. We have been recognised as ‘Good’ by CQC and have a strong reputation for innovation and partnership working.

Following an external promotion of our current postholder, we are now seeking to appoint a new Chief Finance Officer. You will report to the Chief Executive as an Executive Director of the Trust Board and key member of the senior leadership team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • As a member of the Board, jointly developing and delivering the Trust’s strategic direction and corporate management
  • Advising the Trust Board and Council of Governors on all aspects of finance, procurement and contracting
  • Leading the Finance, Procurement & Contracting Directorate
  • Working closely with our COO and CDIO on overall Trust performance and information analysis and reporting.
  • Playing an important role externally, working closely with our NHS partners across the Frimley and Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Systems to develop regional initiatives and promote our services.
  • Supporting the delivery of major capital projects within the Trust.

We have an ambitious agenda for you. We are determined to improve our services whilst also moving to a new way of working, with a greater focus on supporting the wellbeing of our communities and the prevention of poor mental health. Given our finite income, your creative and strategic management of resources will play a critical role in helping us develop new approaches to manage capacity, pathways, and efficiency, driving improvement and moving the quality of our services from CQC ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’.

To succeed, you will be a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with significant experience at a senior leadership level within finance, including exposure to working with a Board. You will bring an understanding of developing and implementing financial strategy in a large, complex organisation that delivers services to the public, and have experience of developing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be an inspiring, collegiate, and compassionate leader who shares our values, with excellent people management skills and experience of building and developing highly effective teams.

Please note: to apply for this job, you will need to submit an application via the advertisement on the NHS Jobs site which can be accessed here
