Job Description

  • Experience as a senior member of a startup/scale-up team (eg. CTO/VP/Head of Engineering/Senior Staff Engineer).
  • Experience motivating and coaching high-performance teams of more than 4 engineers in a high-velocity environment.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate across both technical and non-technical teams.
  • A cloud platform is the foundation of a technology stack: we want Shuttle to be dependable and serve as the rock on top of which our customers build their products. We expect you to bring expertise in how to build and operate highly available, scalable and secure systems (5+ yr).
  • Experience in cloud-native architecture as well as a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructural primitives. (5+ yr).
  • An appreciation of SRE and its application to projects (at least 2 production deployments).
  • Experience with AWS (2+ yr).
  • Able to pick up new technologies/skills and has a growth mindset with recent evidence.
  • Experience using the Rust programming language, either professionally or on hobby projects
  • Experience as a senior technical member of a PaaS/SaaS company.

Job Description:

This is a hands-on role, with 50-50% of the time dedicated to individual contribution and leadership.

  • Autonomy: you will be driving the technical vision for Shuttle, balancing current concerns with future opportunities and directions. You will be involved in both product and platform decisions and have a direct and material influence on the company.
  • Hands-on: we are a startup, once the strategy and the direction are set we expect you to get your hands dirty and help out with the implementation.
  • Product design and implementation. Decide on new product features and propel company growth through innovative ideas and implementations.
  • Scalability and Performance: Scale the Shuttle platform to hundreds of thousands of users ensuring a high level of operability and observability.
  • Technical Vision: Work with the team to ensure tech decisions align with business goals and shape the technical vision with the CEO.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor the engineering team to tackle complex challenges quickly.
  • Code Quality: Uphold code best practices, maintainability, and documentation. Set and enforce coding guidelines.
