The opportunity

We are looking for a forward focused communications strategist to join the strategy team at Iris.

Iris is one of the few places where true integrated thinkers thrive. We have developed one strategy hub allowing us to operate across the full strategy spectrum – a fundamental given the variety of businesses challenges we’re asked to solve across our diverse client base.

The wider Iris Group in London gives us access to over 40 strategists with specialist skills like brand and integrated communications, innovation and transformation consulting, and data driven expertise. The Strategy hub within Iris London (of which you would be a part) houses a collective of skills from brand development through to customer experience, content, social and CRM.

The strategy team is made up of a mixture of integrated communications strategists and deep specialist disciplines like CRM, loyalty, and experience design. A number of new business wins over the course of the last few months has given us the opportunity to enhance and augment the department.

We are looking for someone with deep specialism in communications planning (from a media background or equivalent) across the spectrum of media touchpoints. Deep understanding and experience in social and content as part of a wider media mix is essential.

How you'd spend your day

We are investing significantly in developing our social and content proposition and laser sharp communications planning is a fundamental part of the jigsaw.

You will work with people across the agency, notably: integrated strategists, data analysts, performance marketer and social creative specialists to ensure we are optimising our use of channels and platforms throughout the sales funnel from awareness to conversion.

You will be expected to lead the charge and operate at a senior client level. In addition, you’ll get the opportunity to work on smaller projects and new business pitches. The fundamental requirement is to own the communications planning strategic process.

What we're looking for?

  • Reporting to the Global Head of Strategy and London CSO, you’ll work with our data analysts and our performance marketing specialists to connect and optimise the communications strategy for a variety of our clients.
  • This is our first hire in this field and as such you will be expected to grow and ultimately lead a team. You will have the opportunity to shape the team the way you believe it should be and help us grown this as a key discipline within our strategy team.
  • You’ll be keen to make your mark and want to contribute to the broader leadership of strategy in the agency – collaborating with the other Strategy Directors to build the profile and identity of Iris Strategy, both internally and externally, through the running of team meetings, contributing to thought leadership and agency IP and events.
  • You’ll be keen to get involved in the New Business opportunities, either in support of our Strategy leadership, or leading smaller pitches independently with guidance from them.
  • A team focused self starter, you’ll enjoy getting stuck in and possess a degree of pragmatism and practicality which is an inevitable requirement of a truly integrated agency.
  • You’ll thrive in an environment where you’re given the freedom to think on your own and creatively.
  • Collaboration and openness are both fundamental. You will be required to lead and drive as well as listen to others whose specialist knowledge will enhance the strategic recommendations we are making to our clients.
