Wood is currently expanding across our Process & Energy business within Construction to support a portfolio of EPC / EPCm projects valued at £20-£100million across the Onshore Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical and Renewables industries.
To support this growth we require a Home Office Construction Manager to join us on a permanent basis with hybrid working arrangements, ideally you will be local to our Glasgow or Stockton office.
The appointed may be allocated to one significant project or a portfolio of projects at a variety of stages.

To be considered you will have extensive and detailed knowledge and experience in medium and large scale Construction projects across FEED, Detail Design as well as Field Execution. The opportunity will set the technical direction whilst executing assigned scopes of work in a timely manner and within (KPI) schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing discipline expertise to the business and our clients whilst driving safety leadership.
  • Ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes.
  • Displaying significant understanding of Wood / Client systems and processes.
  • Delivering Construction activities in line with Construction Excellence
  • Actively promoting the Wood core values, policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing planned activities for constructability, providing accurate feedback.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on all construction related activities.
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
  • Set and apply strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy, procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure management of third party suppliers in the execution of operational delivery.
  • Effective delegation to ensure the continuity of work scope execution.
  • Ensure competence of direct reports and review in accordance with competency assessment programme.
  • Manage succession planning Field Construction and performance for direct reports and hire scopes.

Expected Qualifications & Experience :
  • Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant qualifications NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND.
  • 10 years relevant construction experience with at least 5 years in a Lead role.
  • Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industry experience is essential.
  • Exposure to working within a technical environment.
  • Experience of people management (construction).

Role-Specific Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills.
  • Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
  • Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required, monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), HAZCON and Constructability.
  • Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
  • Ability to work with timelines/targets.
  • Display both good judgment and leadership qualities.

External:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external customers and third party vendors.
  • Manage interfaces across functional and business boundaries.
  • Engage with and promote the construction community including networking and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain communication with respective focal points.

You will also be able too:
  • Communicate and co-operate with external stakeholders including industry bodies, academia, market intelligence, relevant conferences, vendors, business acquisition and business development.
