Job Description

Lexington Communications is looking for a first-rate Communications Consultant with 3-4 years’ industry experience to join our dynamic and growing Corporate Communications & Reputation team. (As an indicator, this equates to Account Manager or Senior Account Manager level in other companies.)

What will I be doing?

Your role will include working on campaigns, media relations, media planning, digital communications and issues management. You’ll join a team of great people who are talented, creative and fun to work with. Here are a few examples of what to expect:


  • Contributing to the development of strategic communications and campaign planning
  • Advising clients on the media agenda
  • Drafting media comments, Q&As and key message documents on important issues
  • Building media contact lists on behalf of clients
  • Drafting and selling in press materials to trade, print and broadcast media
  • Media monitoring, research and coverage metrics
  • Digital and social media communications support, content creation, engagement on social networks
  • Developing creative, integrated communications campaigns for high profile clients
  • Using multimedia channels for effective campaigning
  • Advising clients on reputational risk, crisis preparedness, and crisis management


What do I need to bring?

Passionate interest in the media, plus a strong understanding of what a news story is, how news stories are constructed by journalists and PR teams, and how the news agenda works across multiple platforms, including broadcast, print and digital.


Any essential attributes?

  • An excellent writer who can write in a number of different styles e.g. blogs, op-eds, eye-catching tweets, press releases, quotes and speeches
  • Positive, with a can-do attitude and interested in the UK media landscape and digital sphere
  • Organised, with strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive, good at coming up with ideas for creative campaigns and news stories
  • A creative thinker when it comes to selling in stories to the media
  • Fluent in digital media – comfortable using multiple platforms and considering how they might be used to help our clients achieve their objectives


The icing on the cake?

  • Experience with photo/video editing
  • Experience with producing podcasts
  • Experience in internal communications
  • Experience in managing communications work across multiple geographies
  • Familiarity with media databases such as Factiva and Roxhill
