Job Description

Development & Technical Service Chemist required, based in West Yorkshire. Requiring a degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science (or similar) and proven industrial experience of development and formulation of polymers, ideally with polyurethanes.


Title: Development & Technical Service Chemist

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)

Term: Permanent


SRG are working with an established manufacturer of polymer products for a range of applications including flooring, sealants, elastomers and coatings. Due to an increase in demand and a busy period for the business, they are now seeking a Development & Technical Service Chemist to join their technical team based at their site in West Yorkshire. This new and exciting role will primarily involving product development, tweaking formulations, providing technical service to clients and supporting in customers trials. Prospective candidates should hold a degree in Chemistry, polymer science or similar and have proven industrial experience of working with polymer based products, ideally polyurethanes.


Benefits: A new and exciting role within a family-run business, with hands-on product development and technical service. Offering 25 days’ holiday, plus 8 bank holidays. Working hours of 37 hours per week, worked between 7.30am and 4pm, Monday to Thursday, with a 1pm finish on Fridays. Potential opportunities to travel both nationally and internationally.


Role / Description

  • Develop, analyse and further develop existing formulas at the request of clients
  • Development of innovative products as well as improvement of existing formulations
  • Analysis and evaluation of new and alternative raw materials
  • Full recipe responsibility
  • Plan and Run Customer Trials
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer product and application issues
  • Produce supporting technical documentation


Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science (or similar)
  • Proven industrial experience of the development and formulation of polymer based products
  • Experience with polyurethanes is highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
  • Excellent communication skills and work ethic
