We are currently looking for a Director of Capacity to support a trust in the West Midlands on a 6 month contract. Hybrid working.

This is a key strategic and operational position within the Trust, responsible for the development and delivery of service outcomes and corporate targets. The Director of Capacity has a wide range of responsibilities for ensuring the effective development and operational management of safe clinically led site management across the County.

Working with both Corporate and Divisional Clinical Senior Management Teams, the post holder will provide operational and management support and decision making across acute and emergency teams and patient flow. They will make a significant contribution to the delivery of Access and Quality standards, ensuring patients are treated in a timely and effective manner.

Working with the acute and emergency teams they will take a lead in working across specialties to identify/quantify the opportunities for improving access by engendering an ethos of clinically led service improvement, local responsibility for capacity creation and transparency and visibility of capacity and demand in real time.

Key aspects of the role

  • Strategic and operational development of systems, processes and policies to standardise patient flow management Supporting the Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Deputy CNO and Divisional Teams to deliver the performance agenda Working with system partners across organisational boundaries to influence and develop system wide strategy to effectively manage patient flow
  • Ensuring systems and processes are in place to deliver high quality clinical services to patients, and ensuring that their clinical teams provide quality care.
  • Supporting and delivering improvements in patient care and patient satisfaction Supporting the reduction of cancelled operations and improvement in theatre efficiency by effective patient placement.
  • Focus in ensuring the right patients are placed in the most appropriate beds with a reduction in multiple moves late moves through the development and implementation of robust systems and processes.
  • Ensuring delivery against key access targets, specifically the Emergency Care Standard Responsibility for ensuring the capacity team are delivering against key objectives.
  • Responsible for the implementation of systems to support the timely discharge of patients, including the delivery of Red2Green.
  • Responsible for ensuring bed management meetings are effective, providing clear status, structure, actions and clear escalations.
  • Embed process of accountability to ensure that patient flow is a system wide responsibility
  • Change management and leadership Supporting and delivering improvements in staff satisfaction
  • Ensuring high quality financial management
  • Responsible for the ongoing management and monitoring of staff development team development to ensure a coherent team and gold standard service
