Role: Electrical Power Systems Studies Engineer
Contract/Staff: Contract (Outside IR35)
Location: North West London
Our Client has a requirement for a Electrical Power Systems Studies Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in London.
Role Purpose: The Power System Engineer will be responsible for running power system simulations of large and complex electrical systems up to 6 GW involving brown field and green field integration including addition of new battery energy storage systems.
Job Role Responsibilities:
Review and update existing ETAP model based incorporating existing and adding new expansions
Perform all ETAP studies for various scenarios
Design coordination with sub-contractor performing studies in PSCAD
Prepare Study report and present to Client
Prepare a protection philosophy based on review of the existing protection and protection required for the expanded electrical system from 33 kV and higher
Participate in E-HAZOP
Follow Project Schedule and control the Project Cost
Liaison / co - ordination with client and sub - contractors / vendors for power system studies scope
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
High level of experience using Power System modelling in ETAP package for running load flow, short circuit, transient stability, static / dynamic motor starting, harmonic analysis, reactive power compensation, harmonics, switching and protection coordination studies, and issuing the corresponding power system study reports. Experience in coordinating with subcontractor for studies performed in PSCAD is essential.
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Formal training of advanced ETAP Power System Modelling and Analysis
Extensive experience working in a multi - disciplinary Engineering office
Good experience with refinery/petrochemical electrical systems
Flexible approach to design solutions
Decision making skills
