Job Description

Join us in this new and exciting role as our Financial Analysis Manager. This role will give you the freedom to grow, to build and develop a team to deliver business analysis, insight and decision support services to support Group executives in delivering Group performance and strategy to drive performance improvement across the Anglo American Group.

The new Financial Analysis team will be uniquely placed to bring together financial analysis with commercial and operational insights to support the work of the Group. It will also allow us to investigate and analyse key issues in the business to provide decision support. Furthermore, we will also seek to drive change, lead performance interventions, implement a new approach to performance management and deliver decision support services.

Job Description :

Key Tasks

  • Integrate analysis from across the business that informs performance management discussions, effectively integrating operational performance and financial outcomes.
  • Develop and lead a team of financial analysts that provide insight and decision support to the Group Executive.
  • Provide analysis into underlying financial and operational performance against assigned targets, identifying associated risks & opportunities.
  • Provide targeted financial and commercial analysis and provide insight on key topics/issues.
  • Present to and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Provide independent challenge to business plans and support translation of business expectations into performance targets that enable the delivery the Group’s objectives and strategy through the planning horizon.
  • Lead initiatives and design of reports that improve the understanding of the overall business performance.
  • To conduct broad scanning of the business and analysis of indicators, providing insight that increases the confidence in the delivery of performance targets.

This role is a Band 5 and reports to Head of FP&A

Qualifications :

  • Degree in relevant discipline. At least 2:1 classification (UK degrees) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong preference for CA/ACA trained (PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY) or local equivalent. Or, CIMA or equivalent (in a blue chip/ FTSE 100, S&P 500, Nikkei 225, ASX 200 company).
  • Financial literacy essential and must be demonstrated either through accounting qualification or through degree.
  • Proven experience in a financial analysis role in a large multinational company, or through professional services engagements with multinationals.
  • Experience with analysis and benchmarking of financial / business data, operational efficiencies and value chains, ideally in mining environment in one of Anglo’s commodities.
  • Operational mining knowledge and experience an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver messages and professional communications, including reports and presentations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team.
