The Fleet IT Technical Engineer role works in an outsourced environment to provide IT technical knowledge and practical infrastructure delivery of services to our client’s fleet of vessels globally located.
The successful candidate will have experience and capability of preparing and configuration of end user kit and an understanding of the interdependency of IT infrastructure services.
This role is based in our Aberdeen Office but there will be travel globally to our fleet of 30 plus vessels to carry out planned project work.
Although the technologies you will be exposed to in this role are broad It is expected that you will have a niche skill in provision of PCs (desktops/laptops/workstations) and printers.
This role also has a requirement for ordering and logistics of kit globally and working closely with our logistic team.
The successful candidate will have the following;
Ability to build, configure and deliver to a defined design specification
Work with Fleet IT Team Manager & Project Manager to provide technical project delivery.
Complete standardised technical & project documentation.
Define projects requirements. Working together with our client and stakeholders in business areas to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
Keep up to date with industry standards and developments
Have proven IT implementation skills
Excellent communication both verbal and written
Strong team player mindset
An ability to foster good professional relationships with client and project stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines with a pragmatic and flexible approach.
Enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated.
Flexibility to travel
Some experience and exposure to offshore/vessel environment is desirable.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
IT degree level education or equivalent experience
Knowledge of and practical experience of some of the following (or at least a broad knowledge of interdependencies);
o MS Operating systems (W2012 -W2022)
o Hyper V
o Active Directory
o Infrastructure Hardware building
o Windows 10, 11
o SCCM & Intune builds
o Service Now
o M365
o MFA
Knowledge of industry standards and current technology trends.
Understanding of IT operational risk management, project delivery and service methodologies (e.g. ITIL, ISO).
