We are expanding our share dealing and investing offering, building on our core competencies in design, execution and user experience to deliver a market-leading proposition to new and existing IG customers globally. This will be an incubated business with dedicated teams operating in a startup fashion.

IG is hiring for an experienced Head of Risk & Compliance for its new business offering within the trading and investing space. The role will report to the Group Chief Compliance Officer, based in our London office, and will work closely with the Group Risk and Compliance teams in the UK, Poland and South Africa.
The successful candidate will own the design and implementation of the Risk and Compliance ‘second-line-of-defence’ (2LOD) programme for this new share dealing and investment platform start-up and will lead a team of risk and compliance professionals to ensure that all regulatory obligations are met, that the business has a defined risk strategy, and implements a risk-management framework appropriate to this and in line with the Group’s defined risk management approach.
The role will be the primary contact for the businesses’ regulators and will be a designated Compliance Oversight role in this respect.

What you’ll be responsible for
As our business is in startup mode, you’ll spend the initial months of your career with us working on developing and implementing the Compliance & Risk programme for the new business. This will include obtaining the regulatory permissions needed, ensuring Risk & Compliance systems and controls are in place and operational, and building the team to run it all once we go live.
Once we’re live, you’ll own and run the BAU Compliance & Risk function, supporting the commercial business and strategic leadership of the Group to ensure the function provides an independent second line of defence to front-line controls and grows with the business.
Other responsibilities will include:
Building and maintaining a positive risk and compliance culture in the business area team, in line with the Group’s culture and principles.
Providing advisory support to the commercial business and front-line teams on regulatory compliance matters, and on identification, measurement, monitoring and control of key risks.
Championing the implementation and operation of key first-line embedded processes such as operational risk and control self-assessments, risk event reporting and client relationship management.
Performing ongoing monitoring and oversight of outsourced compliance and risk functions, and periodically performing assessments of performance and suitability of internal and external outsourcing partners.
With support from Group risk and compliance assurance teams, own the development, implementation and oversight of risk and compliance assurance programmes for the business line.
What we’re looking for
IG is seeking an experienced professional with a strong understanding and experience in leading a risk and compliance function within a retail investor-focussed capital markets / financial services environment, and a track record of working positively with regulatory stakeholders and executive- & non-executive-level leadership and a strong sense of responsibility towards acting in our client's best interests at all times. You’ll be used to leading small teams of people and working effectively with shared services teams worldwide to achieve your aims and will be confident designing and implementing control frameworks to meet regulatory obligations.
Qualification requirements
Strong degree-level education record in a relevant field
Professionally qualified in a related area (e.g. CFA, FRM, ACA, CISI)
Minimum 8 years experience in risk and compliance
