Job Description

New senior position now available at global law firm as their Head of Finance Business Partnering.

The role itself is a hybrid role and will need someone who has strong leadership and people management experience (you will have a team of 10 under you 4 of which are direct report) some of which are very senior within the team, and you will also Business Partner with their Banking and Finance practice group which is a very important group for the firm.

Specific duties include:

  • Planning, coordinating and organising the work of the Finance Business Partner and Finance Analyst
  • teams with an emphasis on accurate and high quality processes and outcomes
  • Management and development/coaching of team members, fostering an inclusive, collaborative and high performance culture aligned to the aims of the wider Finance function
  • In line with senior management planning and guidance, lead on the execution of regular forecasting and budgeting activities for fee earning teams across EMEA, ensuring high levels of consistency and quality across all areas
  • Providing senior support to the Commercial Finance Director and other members of the Finance Leadership Team as required, in particular supporting the Commercial Finance Director in the overall financial management of the practice areas and market groups
  • Working closely with the Senior Manager, Finance Business Information and Reporting, to continue to develop the data, insight and reporting agenda, ensuring a high quality fee earner experience and efficient access to information for the Finance function.
  • In conjunction with Commercial Finance leadership, contributing to the direction of our finance systems and reporting landscape, ensuring they remain remain fit-for-purpose and support the performance improvement agenda
  • Working closely with the Head of Client Financial Decision Support (CFDS) to promote the client financial management and pricing advisory agenda, encouraging broader and better use of the Firm's tools to develop more profitable and consistent pricing approaches.
  • Working with the wider Commercial Finance team on the design and delivery of finance training (in conjunction with Business Services colleagues), ensuring material is regularly reviewed and kept fit for purpose
  • Being the Commercial Finance representative on the Partner Matters and Development working group and acting as a trusted advisor to the Partner Development Director
  • Serving as the senior financial link between the EMEA wide Banking and Finance practice and allocated market groups, the Finance department and wider business support teams. Proactively working with stakeholders to provide financial expertise and support
  • Enabling business areas to achieve their objectives, make decisions and plan appropriately through the effective understanding and use of financial analysis and management information. Helping devise strategies where delivery can be understood and measured through financial targets and plans
  • In conjunction with Client Financial Decision Support, providing necessary financial support to ensure strategic business development, client retention and increased client profitability within the practice groups
  • In conjunction with the working capital teams, keep abreast of any issues within the practice group and assist in resolution if necessary. Being able to articulate any financial or business risks of significant working capital issues
  • Supporting the practice groups in building business cases for required initiatives, such as lateral hires, fee earner promotions, practice area and geographic expansion

This role would suit someone who has significant people management experience and has extensive experience working in the legal commercial finance space.
