Your new company

Hays Technology are currently recruiting for a Head of IT Services to join a large school in Greater Leeds. This is a leadership role which will report into the school's Business Manager.

Your new role

As the Head of IT Services, you will join the Business Support team within the school and play a pivotal role in guiding and executing the school's strategic plans. You will carry out any IT transformation plans, managing project budgets, project managing and be hands on technically. You will also have the opportunity to influence IT strategy.

You will also be responsible for day to day running of the schools IT function, this is critical to the school's operations. You will manage the annual IT budget, respond to issues, and pro-actively improve the school's infrastructure to avoid any major incidents.

Finally, you will be responsible for managing any junior IT staff. This will include mentoring and upskilling. This is a great step-up opportunity for anyone who is technical and has some leadership experience.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience being strategic with regards to IT transformation and projects
  • Experience of budget management
  • Some experience of mentoring and upskilling junior staff
  • Technical to a third line level
  • Experience of managing Windows Server and Desktop environments using Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM/MEM
  • Experience of networking and system specification including VLANs, ACLs and QOS configuration
  • Ability to source, recommend, install, configure, and test computer hardware, network systems, software etc.
  • Experience working within a school or college is advantageous but not necessary.
  • A driven attitude, with a passion for improvement and leaving a positive mark on the organisation.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of security protection requirements
