We have a new opportunity to join the growing team at a cutting-edge medical technology business based in Edinburgh.


Carcinotech is a MedTech company with expertise in manufacturing 3D printed living tumours using patient-derived biopsies, primary cells, immune cells and cancer stem cells. Carcinotech’s advanced models provide a platform for rapid, ethical, and accurate drug screening, pre-clinical and personalised medicine testing.


As part of expansion, we are looking for an Imaging Scientist to work within their small team to support several ongoing projects. The Imaging Scientist will assist the scientific team in developing products and services offered by the company to the pharmaceutical and clinical research organisations.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recording & processing all incoming tissue samples, for further processing
  • Assisting the Imaging Scientist with immunofluorescent imaging on patient samples as well as 3D-printed tumours
  • Performing DNA/RNA extractions for sequencing
  • Maintaining up to date inventory of frozen samples
  • Reporting results of QC assays and raising issues as they arise
  • Assist with routine cell culture maintenance as required
  • Contributing to writing of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Contributing to regular lab maintenance including cleaning, stock management and equipment monitoring


We are looking for 2+ years experience in:

  • Tissue Sample Processing
  • Immunofluorescent Imaging
  • Handling Organoids/Spheroids
  • 3D imaging of Organoids/Spheroids
  • Performing 3D cell culture work
  • Performing DNA/RNA sample preparation
  • Molecular biology techniques – qPCR, PCR.
  • Immunohistochemistry with antibody staining
  • Statistical data analysis interpretation, and visualisation (software: MS Excel essential, GraphPad Prism advantageous).


Education qualification:

MSc or PHD in related subject
