We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer (full stack) to work on a new opportunity that inolves development and migration of legacy solution to the Azure infrastructure.
Client helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures. In Digital Solutions we have a particular focus in the areas of our two-core market facing propositions of:
· Situational Intelligence: Focused on real-time systems to solve our clients’ challenges. For example, our Video Management System deployment sub-proposition.
· Digital Twin: Which will primarily be using Microsoft Azure and established Digital Twin platforms such as Bentley i-Twin and providing systems integration for our client’s assets.
Dynamic working is available depending on individual/business/client needs. The “home” office for this role will be in our technology capability hub in Worle (nr. Bristol). However, the project may require time to be spent away from the home office e.g. at client sites or other Costain sites.

Responsibilities
· Work in a multidisciplinary team collaborating with Technical Lead, Delivery Manager, Test Engineer and Technical Architect to ensure project is delivered in a timely manner, the deliverables meet the customer requirements and conform to the QA standards.
· Work with Technical Lead to ensure the solution implementation as is per high-level design and architecture.
· Technically support and mentor less experienced members of the team.
· Advocate continuous improvement through effective retrospectives, recommendations and driving change.
Essential skills:
· Java (7+)
· Database development (PostgreSQL)
· Spring Framework (e.g. Spring Boot and plugins)
· REST
· Web app development using Angular
· Testing frameworks (e.g. Junit, Cucumber, Selenium)
· Experience of Azure services
· Experience of the full software development lifecycle
· Experience of source version control ideally Git
· Experience of Agile methodologies
· Continuous Integration (e.g. Jenkins, Maven)
· Understanding of cyber security
