Job Title: Lawyer, Treasury Legal Team
Location: London, hybrid working
Offering £55,000 – £75,000

Join one of the leading retail and commercial banks in the United Kingdom. They are looking for an ambitious Lawyer who is passionate about working in Treasury covering a broad range of work, including debt funding programmes, securitisations, capital issuances and hedging arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a source of professional legal expertise and trusted advisor to a range of stakeholders (including Treasury, Finance, Risk, Operations, Compliance, etc) and to assist in the contribution to the development of policy and procedures. Proactively challenge, advise and influence the business on legal issues, risks and developments in order to protect the interests and develop its business.
  • Assist in the implementation of Treasury’s medium term operational plans and to take into account the wider business, legal/governance and regulatory context
  • Keep informed of relevant changes in (amongst others) UK, US and EU laws, ensuring that legal and business colleagues and management are kept up to date and that appropriate internal action is taken to ensure compliance with local laws that impact the Treasury business.
  • Contribute to reporting and escalation of legal or governance issues inputting to recommended solutions as required
  • Provide advice and guidance to business areas on Corporate Governance or Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework
  • Build and maintain an internal and external network and key stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

  • Be a self motivated, dynamic NQ-3PQE solicitor, barrister (or equivalent) with debt capital markets, structured finance and/or treasury expertise gained in a top law firm (which could include a seat in traineeship) and/or an in-house legal function.
  • Have a basic understanding of capital markets practice and recent related regulatory and legal developments. Hedging / Derivatives experience (e.g. ISDA documentation and GMRA) would be beneficial.
  • Possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Have the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice and proactively offer legally compliant and stakeholder-focused solutions.
  • Be able to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
