Job Description
DAS UK Group are looking for a Legal Counsel or a Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house commercial legal team in our central Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity to join the UK’s leading legal expenses insurer, and work as part of the Ergo Group and the wider Munich Re Group, one of the world’s largest reinsurers. The in-house commercial legal team undertakes a broad range of work, both transactional and advisory in relation to regulated and unregulated activities.

You will build strong relationships with stakeholders in the business, who will rely on you to provide timely and accurate legal advice, to guide them on grey areas of law and help them navigate the full range of commercial issues the business faces.
The team’s core areas of work are:
- Financial services including insurance distribution, outsourcing and associated FCA / PRA regulations.
- Consumer contracts; in particular contracts of insurance (policy wording drafting and interpretation).
- General commercial contract negotiation including drafting and advice, sale and purchase of goods and services, agency, distribution and outsourcing;
- Disputes; advising on and overseeing disputes including litigation the DAS Group becomes involved in from time to time, both bringing and defending claims.
- IT procurement, contracts, software licences and IP with a particular focus on cloud migration.
- Privacy, to include dealing with issues such as international data transfers and automated decision making.
