Caxton Associates' primary business is to manage client and proprietary capital through global macro hedge fund strategies. Assets are managed via a broad mandate to trade in a variety of global markets and instruments.

About the role:We are currently looking to hire an experienced legal professional in our London office to work within a Global Legal team. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with global internal divisions and external clients, service providers and advisers. This is an exciting role reporting to the General Counsel primarily and supporting the wider Legal and Compliance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements essential to counterparty, prime brokerage and derivatives documentations, including but not limited to:
  • Prime Brokerage Agreements (PBA), FX Prime Brokerage Agreements, Custody Agreements
  • ISDA, GMRA, CSAs, MCA, TRS
  • Clearing Agreements, Market Data Provider Agreements and Vendor Agreements
  • Proven track record through a fund cycle, including issues related to fund establishment, structuring, launch, marketing and distribution of funds
  • Strong experience advising on basic and general commercial contracts, including working on market data providers and other vendor agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with Middle Office and Risk team to improve counterparty onboarding processes.
  • Liaising with external advisers and external counsel as appropriate.


Requirements

  • UK-qualified lawyer with 5-7 years PQE experience in a leading law firm or financial institution.
  • Experience with trading documentation and possession a transactional background, ideally gained in an established funds practice.
  • Familiarity with current European, UK and US regulatory regimes that drives the provisions of the terms of business including AIFMD, MiFID II, FCA Conduct of Business and GDPR and further compliance issues such as EMIR, Short selling, and other US regulatory.
  • Robust understanding of finance-based contracts, derivative business and markets including of market infrastructure providers and prime brokerages
  • Knowledge of a global business model and proven experience working on and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic business and regulatory environment
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced highly dynamic environment and demonstrating commercial awareness
  • Strong ability to analyse and convey levels of potential risk and safeguard the business from legal and regulatory risk
  • A strong self-starter willing to work cohesively in a team-oriented environment and capable of working independently
  • Displays and operates at the highest degree of ethics and integrity
