Linux System Engineer - £43,415 - £54,950 - Liverpool/Hybrid
We are proud to be partnering with the prestigious University of Liverpool, a Russell Group listed University, as they embark upon a period of growth. They are currently looking for a Linux System Engineer to join their Unix Team, which sits within their IT Services.
You will possess extensive proven experience in Linux system administration, having worked with Red Hat Linux or Oracle Linux exclusively.
You will also have previous experience working with both physical and virtual Linux server configuration and management, preferably in an environment with authentication against Microsoft Active Directory.
The Linux System Engineering Team works closely with the Service Desk to ensure that all Systems related requests and incidents are progressed. In additional, you will work within the wider Systems Services Team to implement and maintain the customer focused provision of services using the latest technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS
Extensive experience in Linux Systems Administration.
Security, compliance and proactive maintenance of Linux services.
Take responsibility for several key services operated by the Unix Systems Team.
Maintenance of local systems utilities written in scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Shell.
Ensure queries from users referred by the Service Desk are dealt with, liaising with the Service Desk Manager where necessary.
The University are currently implementing a new Target Operating Model, which is resulting in a £3.5m investment into the digital and IT services, this is creating 60 new roles over the next 2 years. On top of this they are also investing into their facilities, creating a brand new, modern and collaborative working environment for their IT services.
