We are working closely with a prestigious local authority childcare team in London to recruit a locum Childcare Lawyer to join their skilled team. They do not often recruit due to such high retention rates, so it's a rare opportunity to join them.
This thriving and collaborative team is looking for a Childcare Lawyer with at least 2 years' PQE to join them and take on a really interesting and engaging caseload, with plenty of support available if needed.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within a local authority, however our client is also willing to consider applicants from private practice who have had experience of care proceedings.
This role will bring challenge, autonomy, opportunity and is highly rewarding. We have had excellent feedback about the team and management.
Responsibilities include:
Handling a caseload of up to 6-8 care proceedings and 1-2 PLO matters
Cases can include complex, high-profile and reported cases, such as fabricated illness, sexual abuse and discharge of care orders
Some neglect work but not much
Judicial review (optional)
Advocacy is encouraged but optional
Selling points include:
Collegiate team atmosphere and the manager is approachable and flexible
Good relationship with client department
Good feedback about the team and the quality of work
Interesting, engaging caseload with sensible case numbers
Support and training available for any areas you have not previously handled or want to strengthen (e.g. advocacy)
Culture of progression
Our client is ideally looking for a quick appointment, however they may also consider applicants on notice periods of up to 2 months.
