Hours: Monday - Thursday, 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday, 07:30 to 13:45.
Production
The company operates a team-based flexible tasking operator policy. Each operator is expected to be able to perform a range of tasks which include: material picking; coiling; assembly; tailing; ferruling; eyeing; packing (including any special requirements e.g. carbon steel anti-rusting or copper degreasing); box-closure; labelling and box-marking; as well as assist in transport of raw materials and product to/from delivery/pick-up lorries and work-in-progress around the shop-floor. Only Operators with certified training will be permitted to operate the forklift truck.
Operators are required to:
- Perform jobs as scheduled by Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager
- Check manufacturing notes on yellow card (job sheet)
- Confirm picked material type and size conforms to yellow card requirements
- Perform defined manufacturing task to yellow card dimensions
- Set up machines to achieve specified quality of product. Seek advice and/or training when failing to achieve this
- Operate automated computer-controlled equipment (training will be provided)
- Identify appropriate packing boxes, and accurately pack to the yellow card requirements
- Advise supervision where inaccuracies exist between required parameters and suggested tooling (e.g. suggested mandrel diameter on coiling versus required coil outer diameter). Seek quality solutions from peers, supervisor or management
- Use measurement/gauge systems to measure quality of output
- Help contract staff perform manufacturing tasks/record quality data.
Quality
- Ensure quality recording and documentation is fully performed and accurately complied with
- Accurately count the number of coils and elements produced and count the number of elements packaged for delivery
- Comply with existing and future 'Kanban' stock control system(s).
Health and Safety
- Health and Safety of the workforce is a priority of the company. Operators have a legal responsibility to conform to directed requirements. Operators have a duty to report Health and Safety issues to Supervisor/Management as part of their job function.
Maintenance/Site services
- Perform machine clean-down and shop-floor cleaning to maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Perform general machine maintenance as directed by supervision.
