Bluegate are seeking an experienced, innovative and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well funded, high calibre multi-disciplined R & D driven technology company whose IP and technology is used in high end mobile devices, drones, autonomous vehicles and consumer electronic devices around the world. This new position has arisen out of an exciting phase that we are in, introducing ground-breaking technology into new product areas and developing next generation products; such devices as smartphones, drones and wearables.


You will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to a dynamic and fast growing company with a global reach, joining a genuinely friendly, capable team who are working on some really interesting and difficult problems at the software / hardware / mechanical interface. Your work will instrumental in influencing and developing products that are more advanced than anybody else’s in the world.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Review and suggest changes to optimise design of fixtures and jigs for manufacture and test
  • Development and improvement of manufacturing and test equipment from concept to prototype build
  • Responsibility for identifying issues with existing designs
  • Work with product design, control, and electronics engineers to ensure the product design is fully compatible with their technology
  • Collaboration with manufacturing partners and customers in Asia and America
  • Collaboration with field application engineers and customers based in China


Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:


  • A good degree in mechanical engineering and a keen interest in full solutions
  • Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals, mechatronics and electronics
  • Some working experience of 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
  • Practical experience in building jigs and prototypes
  • Experience of communicating with multi-disciplinary teams, showing initiative, making decisions, and explaining technical subjects, verbally and written
  • 2 years’ experience in an engineering environment or a postgraduate post is desirable but not essential
