We are looking for a talented QIS Nurse to join the Neonatal Outreach team.
Our neonatal service is the largest neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) service within North West London and provides care to high risk, critically ill neonates, and integrating the family into care is one of our guiding principles. This supports parents in becoming partners in care, participating in providing active care for their baby with the help of competency based training, support and education. We put our patients and their families at the centre of every decision we make and you can join us in giving our patients the Best Start in Life.
As a QIS, qualified in specialty, Neonatal Nurse you would join the Neonatal Outreach team working across both of our hospital sites and in the community. We are looking for a skilled nurse to join the Outreach team to develop your skills in assessing, planning and facilitating discharges. Our family centred approach supports early discharge for all babies being discharged from our Neonatal units including those with complex needs such as home oxygen and Naso-gastric tube feeding.
We want every member of our nursing team to grow and develop every day. With a team of specialist education nurses, regular simulations and hands on training, and access to university and resus council accredited courses. Imperial has extensive in house leadership training and development courses to accelerate your career and bespoke support from our charity to assist with additional funding for professional development. Main duties of the job
- You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision in both the hospital and the community setting.
- Working as part of a multi-professional team co-ordinating the discharge of babies with on-going special needs both in the hospital and as part of the outreach service will work in partnership with the parents, empowering them to meet their baby's on-going special needs following discharge and the continuity of care in the community and home setting
- Teaching and supervising families, nursing and non-nursing staff and be a resource person within the unit for discharge planning. The post holder is required to have flexible working hours and to deputise for the Lead Neonatal Critical Care Community Outreach Nurse where required.
