Network Infrastructure Engineer - Swindon area (hybrid working)

Up to £50,000 PA

Please note: All potential candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance

Our client, a well-establish and reputable managed service provider is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. They provide a wealth of different technical services predominately to government/defence clients. They offer excellent career progression prospects and embrace further learning and development. You'll be joining an agile and forward thinking team who is responsible for developing and building multi-vendor solutions within secure managed services. Your role will be highly projects focussed; you'll be working on the delivery of large scale, secure and complex solutions to their clients. You will design and deliver highly available and secure infrastructure solutions and produce high and low level design documentation.

Further responsibilities:

-Research, development and presentation of new technologies/solutions for improvement of existing or developing future offerings

-Provide subject matter expertise support to presales engagement with customers

-Take ownership of relationships with vendors and attend conferences/sessions when required

-Take responsibilities for Change Requests, with an understanding of business impact.

-Act as a mentor/support for other team members when required, particularly assisting with technical resolution

Requirements:

-Previous experience working within the design/support of networks and related infrastructure, ideally within IT managed services

-Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP and OSPF)

-Excellent configuration skills across routers, switches, firewalls and application delivery controllers (Cisco, Juniper, Kemp, Fortinet)

-Exposure to network monitoring tools (Wireshark, Icinga, Grafana, SolarWinds etc.)

-Familiarity with AWS/Azure and virtualisation platforms (VMWare/Hyper-V)

-Experience with highly available and secure datacentre network design/management

-Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to break down technical terms to different audiences.

Offering up to £50,000 PA (potentially negotiable for the right candidate) plus numerous other benefits.

WFH: Initially required onsite full time then ability to WFH 3-4 days per week (flexibility around this for the right candidate).

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30

Travel: Some travel to client sites may be required
