An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Petroleum Engineer to join the UK Oil and Gas Advisory Services team. Working alongside the technical team, you will lead in a number of areas including subsurface analysis, project delivery and business development.

SLR’s Oil and Gas Advisory Services team provides techno-commercial expert services to the upstream Oil and Gas industry. The hand-picked team comprises geoscientists; reservoir, petroleum and facilities engineers; economists; and commercial and financial experts; most having over 20 years’ industry experience. Job Description

What will you bring to the role?

With a demonstrable history of working in the field of reservoir/petroleum engineering, you'll have substantial experience of oil and gas projects across the value chain, from exploration to production. Additional knowledge and attributes should include:

  • Exposure to a range of UKCS and international basins
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Excellent communication skills - both within the team and with clients
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Comfortable using limited data to quickly identify and prioritise key issues and advise clients on these
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and manage multidisciplinary staff and Associate teams
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of industry software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel)
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to handle challenging deadlines
  • Extremely competent in the use of Microsoft packages including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Key Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

Typical project areas are acquisition due diligence, asset divestiture, disputes and field development studies, with technical evaluations covering a variety of asset sizes, maturities and hydrocarbon types. You primary responsibilities will involve:

  • Undertaking Geoscience and Engineering based analysis of oil & gas opportunities
  • Providing knowledge of upstream and midstream facilities
  • Preparing and deliver presentations and reports to clients
  • Liaising with Client’s technical and commercial team members during projects
  • Managing projects including SLR team contributions
  • Assisting and participate in research themes to develop in-house expertise
  • Contributing to sourcing and securing new business
