JOB TITLE: Planning Senior Solicitor
PQE REQUIRED: 5+ years
LOCATION: West Sussex
SALARY: Up to £55,000
THE ROLE:
A fiercely sought-after position has become available to join a local authority for an experienced Senior Solicitor with over 5 years’ experience in Planning law. The role will be varied and will require the appointed Planning Solicitor to be confident in their ability to conduct a file from start to finish. Your day-to-day duties will include, providing expert advice to all Planning Officers on a wide variety of development management and planning issues, including Development Consent Orders (DCO), investigations, planning breaches, listed buildings, tree preservation orders, and highways. As well as drafting of enforcement notices, negotiation of section 106 agreements and handling all planning related documentation.
THE CANDIDATE:
This role is well suited to an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with at least five years of relevant experience. Ideally you will have experience of working within the public sector and an understanding of working well within a team. Some experience of managing a team would be an advantage. You will be seeking an opportunity to take on a leadership role, contributing to decision making and providing advice as the legal expert for the organisation. You will have an inquisitive mind and will want to immerse yourself in this sector, learning about the issues affecting members and considering how to balance these effectively. You will have experience in robust decision making and defending against appeals as necessary.
