SRG is delighted to be supporting an expanding Biotech in Cambridge who are looking to appoint a Principal Scientist to drive the method development for quantifying polymers and genetic materials loaded in polymeric particles.


The organisation is focusing on the improvement of gene therapy delivery, developing a drug delivery platform which utilises both highly engineered nanoparticles and machine learning methodology. They have already created several effective partnerships with pharma and biotech companies to create an impressive research pipeline, with a particular focus on rare disease models.


Key Responsibilities:


  • HPLC and/or spectroscopy methods for quantifying payloads (genetic materials) inside polymeric particles.
  • with formulation scientists and polymer chemists and provide QC checks for drug delivery formulations.
  • scientific protocols and SOPs and high-quality lab notebook documentation, and ability to write thorough scientific reports.
  • and maintenance of HPLC instrument.
  • plan and execute analytic activities across multiple projects within set timelines Planning your own work and prioritizing as necessary with the minimum level of supervision.
  • to step in and learn new techniques to support projects.
  • keep project leads informed of work progress in a timely fashion.


Ideal Candidate:


  • (or equivalent) in Chemistry and related subjects
  • experience working in either a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
  • background in polymer chemistry with expertise in chromatography and spectroscopy methodologies that are utilised to quantify genetic material.
  • in HPLC analytical method development, including reversed phase, ion exchange, affinity, and size exclusion chromatography.
  • with Agilent HPLC systems and OpenLab Chromatography software would be advantageous.
  • problem-solving skills.
  • communication skills for presenting analytical data to audiences of all levels.
  • experience working effectively in a fast-paced, goal-orientated, and cross functional environment.
