Job Description

Purpose of the role:

The role will consist of business development (building relationships with professional intermediaries and prospective and existing customers) as well as managing a portfolio of customers, with responsibility for their banking needs.

A fundamental requirement of this role is that it is a regulated activity and in scope of the Certification Regime. It is therefore subject to the Conduct Rules set by the FCA/PRA. You are required to familiarise yourself with, and comply with, the Conduct Rules and their successors and complete such ongoing training and competence requirements as required by the FCA/PRA and the bank from time to time. This includes passing an annual fitness and propriety assessment.

Ensuring that our services and the customer outcomes achieved are managed within regulation, process and both protects the Bank and customers to ensure CHC meet regulatory needs.  Act as the point of reference to stakeholders across the Bank.   The role represents the view of the team from the risk and customer lens understanding and adapting anything that would impact the professionalism and experience our customers received.

Role Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to one or more Assistant Relationship Manager(s).

·       Develop and maintain a small number of strong sector intermediary relationships, generating a material business flow.

·       Ensure service excellence.

·       Protect the bank by implementing an effective control environment.

·       Deliver agreed performance metrics.

·       Self-develop to build sector expertise, remain current and increase personal effectiveness

What you will bring to the role:

·         Proactive self-starter, possessing entrepreneurial flair, with a desire to constantly develop.

·         Able to work individually as well as in a close team.

·         Able to work flexibly, subject to the demands of business development.

·         Able to understand the values and ethos of the bank and act as an effective ambassador of the C. Hoare & Co. brand.

·         Able to develop effective relationships internally with all departments of the bank, and to communicate well with internal stakeholders regarding progress and any challenges.

·         Highly articulate, with a good command of English (both verbal and written), with excellent communication and presentation skills.

·         Able to balance the demands of business development and the management of existing customer relationships.

·         Excellent numeracy skills.

Necessary experience or qualifications:

·      A proven track record of successful relationship management or looking to progress to a relationship manager from within the Bank.

·      A working knowledge of macro economics, UK financial markets and associated products.

·      Strong credit skills; able to manage routine lending propositions.

·      Ability to generate new business through networking and customer management.

·      Has gravitas; credible as a supervisor and a bank ambassador.

·      Strong EQ. Can develop functional and productive business relationships.

·      Tenacious and capable in finding excellent solutions to financial challenges.

·      Effective in control and oversight.

·      Self-motivated and committed to personal and subordinate development.

This role is captured under the Certification Regime and is subject to:

·         Ongoing fitness & propriety requirements as set out by the FCA and PRA and as required by the bank under the relevant policies as they may stand from time to time

·         Training and competency requirements as set out by the FCA, PRA and the Bank including the completion and evidencing of appropriate hours of relevant CPD.

·         Ideally educated to degree standard with ACIB/BSc in Financial Services or equivalent.

·         A minimum of  2 A levels grades A-C or equivalent qualification.

·         CeMAP qualification and a desire to undertake other relevant professional qualifications are essential.

·         Obtain and maintain an Individual Certificate of Fitness and Propriety that will be issued by the bank annually.  The bank will set such conditions as may be required by the PRA/FCA or market/best practice for the award of a Certificate of Fitness from time to time.
