The organisation offers a hybrid work pattern, coming into the Central London office 3 days/week.


The post-holder will be responsible for developing and delivering the communications strategy for the INSIGHT Programme. This includes planning and delivering proactive and reactive engagement and impact initiatives, with a focus on how INSIGHT benefits patients, the public and generates value for the NHS. The post-holder will additionally identify and develop proposals for opportunities to advance understanding and engagement of INSIGHT with multisector research users and other stakeholders.


The post has an external and internal focus. Externally, this involves responsibilities for planning and delivering communications activities (e.g., the INSIGHT website, social media, and virtual/actual conferences/events) and related relationship management with relevant stakeholders across the NHS, academia, industry and charities. The post-holder will identify opportunities for raising the profile of other products and services offered by the INSIGHT Programme across the Life Sciences sector. Internally, you will work closely with the Trust's Communications Team on information and engagement activities, as well as advising on communications and impact reporting for funded projects under the INSIGHT Programme.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop, deliver and manage a comprehensive communications strategy for INSIGHT, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and aligning to Moorfields corporate Trust strategic priorities
  • Lead on the design and implementation of proactive and reactive engagement and impact initiatives to reaffirm how INSIGHT benefits patients and generates value for the NHS. This includes horizon scanning, mapping opportunities and reputational risk and campaign/promotional activities
  • Build effective working relationships with the Trust's Communications Team to ensure a coordinated delivery of INSIGHT communications
  • Manage any reactive media enquires and lead on media handling strategies and statements
  • Lead on delivering targeted communications, research translation and engagement activities to raise the profile of INSIGHT, including in-person/virtual events, conferences and sector-specific initiatives
  • Manage and write innovative content, stories and listings for INSIGHT that effectively informs, motivates and engages external stakeholders across appropriate channels
  • Manage and develop the INSIGHT website and digital communications via social media channels

Key Skills:


  • Demonstratable experience of preparing, implementing and evaluating effective communications plans for large-scale, complex programmes/projects
  • Experience of communications management within a research or data intensive organisation
  • Strong knowledge of using a wide range of communications and engagement tools with the ability to identify the appropriate channels
  • Ability to handle media enquiries, both proactive and reactive
  • Experience drafting and conveying complex and/or sensitive information and advising senior colleagues on difficult issues
  • Understanding of public sector operational priorities and the engagement of patients and public in healthcare
  • Experience of organising and supporting communications and engagement for research and development involving the Life Sciences sector
