Job Description We’re looking for a communications partner dedicated to our Chief Technology Officer and his organisation to tell our innovative tech story to internal and external audiences.

As part of the technology leadership team, this role is strongly linked to our strategy and our brand - positioning Sage as the UK's most exciting technology company and a global tech thought leader. It’s also intrinsically linked to our product and commercial journey, and customer experience.

Reporting to the director of Corporate communications and acting as the primary contact between the CTO and wider comms team, you will be a technology enthusiast who can understanding a technology vision and develop it into a robust position which you can communicating to a wide variety of stakeholders from media and investors to customers and colleagues.

You will have good organisational and collaboration skills. As a core member of the corporate communications team, you will be planning and designing an exciting tech communications plan, delivering content, preparing presentations and keynotes, developing platforms, managing our agency partners tightly to land first class external PR, social and speaking opportunities -live and virtual, cutting-edge tactics. You will also work closely with our internal comms team to ensure our tech and innovation message feeds in to our global and functional internal channels and platforms including broadcast, intranet, newsletters etc.

As this is a global role interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders from senior stakeholders, to peers and external agencies, you’ll be highly credible with the knowledge and interpersonal skills needed to consult, provide counsel and gain influence. The ability to effectively collaborate with others is also crucial. Naturally creativity and strong copy-writing skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities The role requires
•Aspirational story-telling which will:
-Enhance our brand in the mind of current and prospective customers, investors and stakeholders
-Build a profile and secure thought leadership coverage with influencers and media
-Attracting brilliant tech talent
-Attract ISV, alliance and channel partners
-Excite existing and future shareholders
•The ability to work closely with the internal comms team to inspire, educate and enable our colleague audiences to connect with our tech strategy. This includes the 300+ colleagues focused on technology innovation globally as well as the 12,000 plus colleagues whom we need to take with us on our innovation journey.
•The experience to build a position that feeds into the wider media narrative whilst remaining true to our values and strategy

Key responsibilities:
•Building a narrative and generating content to bring to life our technology vision that’s intertwined with our corporate, product, commercial and customer strategies.
•Developing technology and innovation thought leadership and establishing clear positions on our Sage Business Cloud vision, industry trends, emerging technology and related topics like the ethics of tech, trust and data – as well as sourcing and developing insight content across CTO
•Ensuring our tech and innovation story is connected to our product and commercial focus and priorities, and stays intrinsically linked to our customer message, flowing through everything we do.
•Working closely with internal comms to deliver our tech and innovation message consistently and regularly across key channels.
•Streamlining and amplify the storytelling of the CTO and his wider team, making it scalable for others to tell
•Maintaining awareness of and engagement with Product PR, Segment roadmaps and Industry Analyst Relations agenda, plus Partner and ISV/dev agenda

Essential:
•Passionate about technology
•Strong understanding of the technology landscape and hands-on experience in a tech environment, whether in a technology business, as a tech-focused journalist or in a tech PR setting
•Excellent writing and messaging skills
•Track record of strong, traction-focused content generation – comfortable with making tech consumable for a range of audiences from technical experts to industry followers, as well as easy to connect with and understand for non-expert customer-facing colleagues
•Creative thinker – challenging the norm and bringing new ideas
•Confident working with/advising/proactively guiding senior stakeholders
•Self-starter, enjoys making a difference via proactive outreach and building networks – able to hit the ground running and takes pride in quickly making an impact

Desirable
•Able to think, plan and work strategically - connecting to a strategic vision - as well as strong tactical delivery, contributing to Sage’s goals and focus areas
•Strong media relations skills
•Internal communications experience – understanding audiences and delivering educational/action-driving engagement across a range of channels and platforms
•Knowledge of the tech media landscape and tech-focused thought leadership in mainstream press
•Experience of managing agencies
•Knowledge and experience of social media platforms
•B-2-B experience/exposure
•Team player - aligning, managing connections and interacting with a range of communication and business teams across a matrix organisation
•Excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking and organisational skills
