Senior Communications Manager - EMEA

We are looking for an experienced communications professional to lead communications activities across the EMEA region. As Senior Communications Manager, you will be part of the Global Communications team, leading external and internal communications strategies to engage, inform and guide internal and external stakeholders and audiences across all markets in EMEA where we operate. EMEA is a varied region for business communications, and requires a deep understanding of local customs, cultures, messaging techniques and modes of reaching consumers.

The position will report to the Head of Global Communications and will be based in Amsterdam Or London

AT SONDER YOU WILL:

  • Plan, execute and manage media relations activities and engagements in the region with both trade and consumer outlets
  • Drive and manage thought leadership and creative PR strategies to raise awareness of Sonder from conception through to execution across EMEA; develop profile-raising plans for senior EMEA leader(s).
  • Work closely with local teams (across different time zones and countries), and local PR agencies where applicable, to develop compelling stories and narratives aligned to key milestones.
  • Lead internal communications across EMEA, including regional organizational events, all-employee business updates and developing communications plans in support of change activities
  • Contribute to building the overall Global Communications department and expansion of PR activity in EMEA that helps business achieve key objectives in the region
  • Support the execution of our global PR strategy and work closely with the Policy team to ensure an aligned corporate narrative in the region. 

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

  • Proven professional experience in a similar position, preferably with international communications experience
  • A university degree in Communications or Journalism
  • Experience with developing and maintaining public relation strategies at a regional level / across EMEA; strong understanding of the media/public relations environment across EMEA
  • Experience managing and scaling communications activities in EMEA
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written; additional languages an asset; with eye for attention to detail
  • Possess strong critical thinking, project management and time management skills, with the ability to be flexible and solutions-oriented; ability to lead and manage projects simultaneously on deadline
  • Experience managing projects and issues across multiple stakeholders and countries
  • Ability to translate content into clear viewpoints for external use
  • A driven, independent self-starter; results-oriented and ability to support work with data
  • Personality that thrives in a fast-paced environment and fits in an agile company culture
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, distributed team and in a primarily remote work environment
  • Knowledge of the hospitality sector and the industry an asset
