Overview

TRC's London office opened in 2012 and offers environmental services to a broad cross section of organizations from the corporate, property and investment sectors. The UK business practice focuses on the provision of TRC's core environmental consulting services to corporate, private equity and property clients. Our services are solutions driven and include advice on environmental due diligence and transaction support; contaminated land investigation and remediation; air quality and odor; acoustics; environmental planning and permitting solutions; EHS management and compliance; and energy use reporting and reduction.

Job Description:

An environmental professional to provide technical environmental due diligence (EDD) as part of the TRC London consulting team, to include an annually reviewable secondment (minimum one year duration) to directly support the Environmental leadership team at Amazon.

It is anticipated that the individual will have between 3-6 years’ environmental consulting experience with specific expertise in the delivery of real estate-focused environmental projects, with technical knowledge of assessing and quantifying contaminated land risks and liabilities (including the associated human health risks to site occupiers), as well as the ability and confidence to manage vendors, review reports, undertake research and advise internal clients.

As part of the role you will also be expected to actively contribute to the development and management of environmental programs, focusing on compliance and the continual improvement of the environmental operations. This includes pro-active engagement with stake holders, performance measurement and reporting, document control, global process development and change management.

The role will involve working closely with the wider global environmental and sustainability team and as an environmental professional within the business you will be expected to support the delivery of the environmental management system, the development and review of standard operating procedures and the delivery of business wide sustainability initiatives.

Most importantly, the applicant should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently within a fast-moving corporate environment.

Office location is London. The individual will be employed and closely supported by TRC but seconded full-time to the client, where they will report to the Environmental leadership team under the Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) entity.

Responsibilities

  • Program management of existing internal Environmental programs (e.g. global EDD);
  • Develop and manage new environmental programs (continuous improvement of environmental operations);
  • Liaise with and manage relationships with internal clients;
  • Manage vendor relationships (e.g. obtain and review vendor proposals);
  • Provide advice to environmental manager based upon review of audit reports, incident reports, and other available information;
  • Advise on environmental risk management, both in the context of a real-estate transactions and during occupation of sites;
  • Development of SOPs;
  • Support internal link and implementation alignment between environmental compliance and sustainability objectives, standards and processes;

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (BSc) or higher in an environmental science or engineering discipline;
  • Several years’ relevant environmental consulting experience at an established environmental practice, with specific experience of real estate transactions support and environmental compliance support;
  • Experience in environmental program management;
  • Experience in commissioning and managing vendors, ideally including vendors located internationally;
  • Strong technical background in environmental risk assessment and management, with a good knowledge of current and future international environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices;
  • Experience of internal/external client liaison (e.g. meetings, presentations) and management;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders from varying cultural and professional backgrounds;
  • Excellent report writing, including the ability to technically review reports;
  • Strong project management, administration, and coordination skills;
  • Technologically adept, and able to learn new unfamiliar systems.
  • Commercial awareness, along with financial and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and able to manage own priorities, workload with excellent problem solving, analytical, writing, and presenting skills; and

The candidate will be supporting 40 hrs/week for a minimum of 12 months following onboarding.
