Role Overview


The role of the Network Operations Engineer is to support expanding network projects requirement at southern based airport. This will include design & deployment / implementation, also any post testing / remediation. Will be predominantly remote working & with some onsite requirement during project timelines. There will also be a requirement to support & backfill the technical manager for the overall resource planning & progress of project activity.


The tasks will include (but not limited to):


  • Recognized expert within the organization with a deep knowledge and expertise of the discipline
  • Leads large projects/initiatives
  • New service design & client setup
  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the customer environment
  • Risk ownership and Escalation
  • Senior management reporting, including root-cause analysis and proactive remediation
  • Seen as a technical expert in his/her area, involved with solution design
  • Manages communication with customer on complex issues and recommends process, product or service improvements. Able to communicate at all levels of the business up to CIO
  • Adhering to strict policies and processes around security and data protection
  • Ensuring the escalation process is followed and any issues are communicated appropriately to internal and customer management teams
  • Configuring and deploying network equipment
  • Creation of network design documents
  • Driving HPE value-add service enhancements through innovation and process improvement
  • Troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues on all networking infrastructure



Required Skills and Attributes


  • Aruba / HPE Network accreditation minimum Professional , ideally Expert
  • Proven extensive networking background, minimum 5 years experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to simplify technical detail
  • Highly organised with the ability to work in a fast-paced, structured manner to meet tight deadlines
  • Confident, collaborative working style and able to interface with people of all levels
  • Proactive approach to work activities & support of colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to recognise and react to situations with a sense of urgency and problem ownership
  • Must have a strong understanding of all major aspects of systems and network equipment HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms
  • Must have knowledge of Palo Alto & Fortinet Firewalls
