Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £78,489 depending on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Independently reviewing a range of software products, across current and future platforms
  • Producing IV&V plans and monitoring and reporting progress against them
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of software processes
  • Providing consultancy and support to other safety-critical software development programmes

Your skills and experiences:

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in Software Engineering with embedded systems and an understanding of the Software Engineering Life Cycle
  • Working knowledge of software engineering related standards, particularly RTCA DO-178C, but also other defence and civil standards
  • Working knowledge of a high level programming language (Ada or similar) and data flow analysis experience
  • Understanding of Model Based System Engineering techniques (specifically SysML & SCADE)

The Future Systems Utilities Software team:

The Future Systems Utilities Software Team (formerly known as the Software and Safety Technology Group, SSTG) have a vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer to perform Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V). The post holder will be responsible for independently reviewing a range of high integrity software products, across current and future platforms. This currently includes the Tempest Demonstrator and Typhoon, but has previously included Hawk, Tornado and F-35. The role additionally involves providing safety-critical software consultancy and support to other programmes, both within and external to the Air sector. The successful candidate will be expected to work on an individual basis (to maintain their independence) but will interact regularly with the wider team and will therefore need to have good communication and time management skills. The role is UK based (Warton), but is hybrid in nature, providing the opportunity to work flexibly
