AXA XL Reinsurance is the is the dedicated Assumed Reinsurance arm of AXA Group.


The Reinsurance Risk Management team is responsible for ensuring that the Assumed Reinsurance activities of AXA XL have an adequate risk management in place, meeting AXA Group Standards and Policies, supported by adequate governance and organisation to ensure effective functioning. In addition, the team ensures that risk framework models and metrics are appropriately reflecting risks and economic performance of assumed reinsurance business. 
We are looking for an experienced actuary (or equivalent qualification) to lead AXA XL Re’s Underwriting Risk Management team, which is is responsible for monitoring the key exposures underwritten by AXA XL Reinsurance and their impact on the overall risk profile of the reinsurance segment.
Our risk management uses sophisticated modelling tools and vast amounts of data to evaluate exposure to catastrophe losses and to aggregate assessment of man-made, credit, country, terrorism and operational risks.
The Reinsurance Underwriting Risk Senior Manager will also be in charge of advising senior leaders and business stakeholders on risks and opportunities associated with underwriting strategies, managing risk governance, developing risk appetites, and assessing risk models and metrics.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
• Support the Reinsurance CRO for all matters related to Reinsurance UW risk, ensuring risk framework models and metrics are appropriately reflecting risks and economic performance of assumed reinsurance business, including :
• Maintaining AXA XL Re’s underwriting risk framework, including by building stress and sensitivity tests to support understanding of the risk
• Coordinating the Reinsurance Underwriting Risk Committee and risk discussions with product groups
• Contributing to the reinsurance CRO second opinion on business planning, profitability analyses, reinsurance purchases
• Contributing to risk discussions at AXA Group, AXA XL Division, AXA XL Re and legal entity levels
• Together with the UW risk team he is in charge of 
• Monitoring key (re)insurance underwriting risks, including identifying risk trends, emerging risks, and risks associated with new or material changes to existing activities or products.
• Ensuring compliance with risk framework capacities and limits, quarterly monitoring of underwriting exposures, coordination of the risk budget exercise and implementation of risk metrics as needed
• Designing and maintaining the data governance framework for AXA XL Re Risk Management by introducing controls around risk processes, exposures, models, and reports
• Delivering risk reports to legal entities, AXA Group, AXA XL division, and legel entities 
The Reinsurance Underwriting Risk Senior Manager will report to the Chief Risk Officer, Reinsurance.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or quantitative field
• Actuarial qualification preferred
• Proven experience in (re)insurance pricing, underwriting, , actuarial science and / or risk management, with a strong experience in analytical and data management
• Advanced knowledge of (re)insurance underwriting risks
• Good knowledge of Excel, VBA, SQL
• A self-motivated problem solver with a strong attention to detail & highly organized
• Excellent oral, written and communication/presentation skills
