Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon. Sturminster, Dorset. £50k-£60k DOE per annum

You are a good vet and want to make a difference.

You became a vet for all the right reasons to look after patients, learn, grow and dedicate yourself to the best profession in the world.

Things have changed though, targets are creeping in, shorter consults, and practices are morefocussed on the bottom line over everything else. This isn’t why you signed up to be a vet.

Stuck in a rut, you are worried you are going to get more of the same if you move. You don’t want ajob, you want a career and a place you can call home.

What if we knew of an independent practice, set in the heart of their community? A practice where15-minute consults are standard, a loyal customer base to serve, with a team of experienced vets and nurses working in a relaxed friendly environment together doing what is right for the patient and for the practice.

Luckily, there are still places like this and this one is hiring.

A modern family-owned independent small animal practice, based in Sturminster Newton, Dorset islooking to recruit a small animal vet. Hiring for growth ideally, you will have a minimum of 2 yearsexperience but it’s a kind, compassionate person they are most interested in.

This is very much a team setting, it is a community of passionate like-minded individuals who worktogether, discussing cases without targets to worry about and trying to make the place the best it can be.

Expect a varied caseload with a good mix of consults and surgery, owning your cases, and seeingthem through. No production line consults here. There will be some sole charge but you will besupported by a team of like-minded vets. They have a dermatologist and orthopaedic specialistregularly visiting the practice.

Ideally, the role is 4 days a week, 8:30am – 6pm no OOH, and 1:3 Sat mornings, but they are flexibleand happy to look at part-time hours too.

So, what’s in it for you? £50-60k DOE, RCVS & VDS fees paid, pension plus a CPD package, standard 5.6 weeks holiday and accommodation provided if required. Not to mention plenty of cakes, biscuits and nibbles to hand.

You will be based in an area with plenty going on, local restaurants, coffee shops galore, a deli, a sports centre, good local schools and even a local library.

With riding, open water swimming, kayaking, fishing, a local cricket club, and great walks this is Thomas Hardy country after all so less of the big lights and more rural bliss.

So, what’s next?

You can either prove yourself, grow, learn, and develop within a caring team, or keep getting moreof the same. I know what I’d choose!

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask anyquestions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoying being a vet again.
