What is the purpose for this role?
To help create a new Waste Control desk which will support the Innovative Mogden Waste Catchment in London Operations. This is a 12-month trial to demonstrate how a single Control desk can focus on, and support on all assets within a single waste catchment (Mogden). The desk will help us identify asset risks quickly and through building relationships with the Mogden Catchment operational team, help deliver change and provide a new approach to waste system operations in the future.
The role will use new analytical tools, alongside existing technologies, to help demonstrate data lead insights into interventions, and reduce risks to our customers and the environment from restricted services, flooding, and pollutions.
What you will be doing

  • The role will require full ownership of risks from end to end. Support the development of an effective Catchment Management approach to Waste Control by testing and providing feedback on process and system changes.
  • From analysing data, alarms, identifying trends, liaising with operations/digital/OT and other stakeholders, to tracking benefits, identifying learning opportunities and reporting.
  • Communicate status of work as required, escalating risks or issues if and where necessary along with suggested mitigating actions where possible.
  • Use the new Smart Waste Catchment tool (and associated smart waste tools) to look for abnormal trends and alerts, initially within the Mogden catchment but progressively across the whole business.
  • Support and build close relationships with colleagues across waste system operations, the PCAs with their work on SPS and SLMs. Also work with waste System Operations in utilising information from Scada on the Mogden catchment.
  • Maintain and actively manage compliance with all company health & safety requirements.
What should you bring to the role?
  • Either graduate, typically with several years relevant work experience, or ONC/HNC or equivalent in field related to technical specialty typically with significant years relevant work experience in wastewater industry.
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable ability to learn new subject matter quickly, along with an ability to communicate complex issues to a wide audience.
  • Self-starting with a high degree of personal drive.
  • Experience and aptitude to engage with key stakeholders.
  • Resilient with experience of operating in high pressure environments.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems (preferably GIS, SCADA knowledge) and Office software.
