What the Hiring Manager Says The successful candidate will provide timely, high quality and commercial legal advice to the UK platform business, the UK financial adviser business and Quilter’s central functions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide breadth of commercial matters.

Contract type: Permanent

Whilst the successful candidate needs to be able to support any area covered by the Legal function, the day to day focus of the role will be on supporting with general commercial contracts.

Support with general supplier contracts including IT contracts. Ensuring an excellent working relationship is maintained with the Third Party Risk Management team so as to encourage open dialogue, early engagement and to enable contracts to be dealt with in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Support with the key contractual documents in place with financial advisers including membership agreements and loan agreements.

Support the Deputy Head of Legal with corporate transactions, such as acquisitions and disposals, as required.

Support the Head of Legal with complaints and disputes as required.

Provide a professional and best practice service on all legal matters which impact the business.

Minimise exposure to litigation, risk and associated costs.

Source and manage cost effective external legal advice where required to protect business interests.

Maintain value added and cost effective relationships with external lawyers and determine when to seek external legal services to protect business interests.

Provide specialist advice and guidance on relevant legislative developments.

Ensure working relationships are established with the Risk, Compliance and Company Secretariat teams to ensure that legal risks are accurately assessed, managed and minimised.

Report effectively on legal issues and risk exposure and escalate actions as appropriate (e.g. under the Legal Risk Policy).

Advise the business if there are customer fairness issues to be addressed, for example, unfair or unclear customer communications or when advising in relation to a customer dispute.

Promote the operational efficiency of the Legal function.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with post qualification experience in advising on general commercial contracts.

Knowledge and experience of UK financial services is desirable but not essential.

You will need to be articulate, able to negotiate, build relationships and influence others to a desired action.

You will need to be confident in managing senior stakeholders i.e. board, Exco.

You should be future focused and able to spot opportunities to add value.
