Department: Chief Operating Office

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week (Flexible working )

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We’re looking for a robust /confident and pro-active Solicitor to join our Legal team. In this varied role, you’ll w ork on a broad range of commercial contracts which could be anything from goods and services agreements to prize draw and website terms and conditions . You’ll be tasked with managing your own caseload , so you’ll be used to working independently . You’ll build good relationships with your stakeholders, where you’ll be seen as a trusted ad visor , and you’ll help to ensure legal compliance across your working relationships.

What will I be doing?

Manage a caseload to provide timely , proactive, pragmatic, high quality and commercial legal advice and solutions to the organisation, in particular to the Marketing , Fundraising & Engagement, Philanthropy, Policy, Information & Comms and Chief Operating Office Directorates

Work on a broad range of commercial contracts including goods and services agreements, technology contracts, sponsorship agreements, events and sports agreements a long with fundraising a rrangements and regulatory compliance.

Build a good understanding of business areas, establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients

Manage a comprehensive caseload and support Senior Solicitors/Head of Legal , where necessary

Carry out drafting and negotiating and assist clients with related legal queries

Identify, advise on and ensure good contract management practice, to embed the various policies and programmes designed to ensure contractual, corporate and legislative compliance

Help to foster a coaching culture by providing support to other team members

What skills are you looking for?

Qualified lawyer with sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice/in house func t ion

Relevant post-qualification experience in-house and/or in private practice

Demonstrable strong knowledge of commercial law and best practice

Experience of drafting agreements with strong attention to detail

Proven ability to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues 

Proven ability to work in a solution-focused and pragmatic way, applying legal knowledge and good practice in day to day work

Experience of working independently as well as part of an ambitions Legal Team with a real desire to excel

Proven ability to recognise when more complex and serious issues arise and escalate appropriately, working with others to solve those issues and contribute to solutions
