Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining complex space systems and satellite communication networks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and technicians to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our space-based communication platforms.


Responsibilities:


• System Design and Integration: Design and develop space systems and satellite communication networks, including hardware, software, and infrastructure components.

Requirements Management: Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure alignment with project goals.

• System Testing and Validation: Develop test plans and procedures, conduct system testing, and validate system performance against defined requirements.

• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in space systems and satellite communication networks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

• System Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency through analysis and optimization techniques.

• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve system issues, failures, and anomalies, utilizing troubleshooting techniques and methodologies.

• Documentation: Create and maintain system documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design specifications, and technical reports.

Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, scientists, and technicians, to ensure effective communication and successful project execution.

• Project Management: Participate in project planning and coordination activities, including resource allocation, scheduling, and progress tracking.

• Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in space systems and satellite communication technologies and provide recommendations for improvement and innovation.



Requirements:


• Degree educated in Engineering or a related field (Space System Engineering, Electronics, Communications).

• Proven experience (5-10 years) in systems engineering, preferably in the space /SatCom domain working on Defence and space programs.

• Strong knowledge of space systems and satellite communication principles, protocols, and technologies. System design, ground segment design, satellite operations and payload engineering.

• Proficiency in system design and integration methodologies, including requirements management, system modeling, and simulation.

• Experience with system testing and validation techniques, including test plan development, execution, and analysis, VV&T

• Familiarity with OSS/BSS technology for management and reporting

• Knowledge of optical, 5G / Quantum technologies

• UK Security cleared (or eligible for)


This role is open for office, and/or home office work, but requires frequent travel to customer sites (up to 3 days a week, across the UK).
