Summary
A major European Solar & Storage Independent Power Producer is seeking a Trading Analyst for their new, growing trading team in London. This company originate and develop utility scale solar & battery storage projects until pre-construction phase.
As Settlement Analyst, you will manage the day-to-day finance operations of the trading business. Reporting into the MD of the trading team, you will support the entry of new markets and administration of new products and services.
This is a new role for a new trading unit with the company. As the role will initially be in a start-up environment, you will need to be independent and to manage your own tasks without substantial supervision.
As you will be the first trading management hire within this trading team, this role has the ability to progress to a ‘Head Of’ position over the next couple of years as the team grows
This role will be amongst a collaborative environment where you will have a high level of visibility within the organisation and have the ability to work with senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily management of finance operations (confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement (including invoicing) of all trading activity and industry costs)
Prepare financial and other KPIs for reporting on behalf of the optimisation business
Post-trade analysis and strategy performance monitoring.
Ensure mark-to-market and settlement of bilateral and forward trades are prepared and delivered accurately
Partner with the Commercial Team on strategic desk initiatives –including new markets, products
Daily operational contact with Clearing Banks, ensuring margin requirements are met
Assist in cashflow forecasts and business plans
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, to drive efficiency and improved performance (e.g., system enhancements and automation).
Experience Required:
Knowledge of energy commodity trading activities, trade life cycle and trading systems
Experience of working within an Operations team performing invoicing & settlement processes
Ability to identify and drive improvements in processes, systems and controls
Numerate and highly organised with an excellent attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think independently and draw conclusions
Sound knowledge of accounting and tax fundamentals
3+ years in a similar role
Excellent communication skills
