Job Description

Pantheon is an international investor in private equity, infrastructure & real assets and debt that invests on behalf of over 585 institutional investors (as at March 31, 2019), including public and private pension plans, insurance companies, endowments and foundations. Pantheon is owned by Affiliated Managers Group Inc (“AMG”), alongside senior members of the Pantheon team. AMG is a NYSE-listed asset management company with equity investments in leading boutique investment management firms. The ownership structure, with Pantheon management owning a meaningful share of the equity in the business, provides a framework for long-term succession and enables Pantheon management to continue to direct the firm’s day-to-day operations.

This is a permanent position for a member of the Operations Team, which is largely responsible for preparation, input and reporting of all financial and analytical client data. The focus of the role is ensuring all capital drawdowns and distributions between our investors and their investments are accurately entered into an in-house database. This must be completed based on daily deadlines to facilitate both timely reconciliations and investor reporting. Responsibilities also include resolving cash breaks, updating FX rates, answering queries from internal and external stakeholders, and instructing payments through several external banking portals. This role will report to the Transactions Manager.

Prohibited Activities

Pantheon Ventures is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).The incumbent of this position is prohibited from undertaking investment management or providing investment advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inputting investment cashflows (drawdowns and distributions) into Pantheon’s in-house database, according to US GAAP standards.
  • First-stage approval of the transaction entry of other Analysts.
  • Investigating and resolving cash breaks between Pantheon’s database and the investors’ bank accounts, as well as transaction booking discrepancies between the databases of Pantheon and that of our administrators.
  • Using online banking portals to fund capital calls for certain investors and make external payments and internal transfers between corporate accounts.
  • Resolving any ad-hoc queries from internal Pantheon teams, Pantheon’s administrators, clients and our investment managers (General Partners).
  • Helping to identify areas for improvement in existing processes.
  • Working both independently and with colleagues on individual projects and seeing them through to completion.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective team player.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • A desire to help streamline and improve processes.
  • Previous experience of large-scale data entry work and working to daily deadlines is preferable.
  • Operations background in financial services is preferable but not required. Familiarity with online banking/payments processing is preferred but not required.
