Responsible for the depositary relationship management for allocated depositary clients, assisting in the day-to-day activities of depositary, supporting the growth of the business and contributing and supporting the strategic agenda.

Additional duties include:

  • Ensuring the depositary control environment is aligned to corporate standards and industry best practice.
  • Delivers the day-to-day UK Depositary Services functions in accordance with Depositary best practice.
  • Ensures all Depositary obligations are successfully adhered to through establishing and monitoring applicable procedures and controls.
  • Provides client support on a day-to-day basis, supporting the implementation of regulatory change impacting clients and managing client led change activity. Ensuring at all times a high quality of client output and conformance to service levels
  • Maintains and develops client relationships in order to achieve high levels of client satisfaction and to optimise Northern Trust’s commercial positioning in the UK Depositary Services industry.
  • The support of due diligence and on-site inspections of relevant third parties. This will require operating independently of other Northern Trust group entities.
  • Key member of a client facing team
  • On-going liaison with the pan-European Depositary Operations function.
  • Monitoring the regulatory environment and assessing business impact.
  • Able to operates independently; demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the depositary business unit / function
  • Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of client level strategic direction and relationship management.
  • Responsible for direct interaction with different committees and/or management

The selected candidate should demonstrate a fair amount of the following:

  • Good understanding of UK Funds operating models and fund administration arrangements.
  • An awareness of the key UK regulations applicable to the fund and depositary banking industry.
  • An understanding of the types of portfolio investment strategies / asset classes
  • Good level of communication and relationship management skills
  • Team player with demonstrable NT values and cultural synergies
  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required
  • Previous experience in a similar function in a custodian bank, securities industry or investment management firm that offers the full fund administration suite of services
  • Previous relevant risk management, legal and compliance experience an advantage.
