• Well-equipped family run independent small animal and exotic case load
• Excellent salary on offer - £40,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience
• Fantastic surgical and medical caseload
• 4-day week with weekends on a rota (1 in 5)
• Rota'd days off to include 4-day weekends off work to allow mini breaks and genuinely good work life balance

A well-respected, independent, family run practice are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their vet team. This modern, purpose-built practice is renowned in the area for experience dealing with small animal and exotic pets and is a 1st opinion and exotic pet referral centre. The practice is based just 30 minutes' drive north of Norwich. They are an ISFM Gold Feline Friendly' practice, a RWAF Gold Rabbit Friendly and a Dog-friendly accredited clinic. Since opening in 2014 with just 2 vets and 2 nurses, the practice has really thrived and they now have an amazing and experienced clinical team of 10 vets, 7 RVNs, 1 SVN, and 1 ANA.

You will have a varied and interesting caseload, approximately 40% dogs, 30% cats, and 30% exotics (of which 50% are rabbits/guinea pigs and small mammals, 30% birds, 15% reptiles, and 5% zoo work). Please do not be put off by the exotic caseload as there is always support available and in-house training if needed. We also support local practices with advice and offer referral consultations. They have 3 types of shifts, an ops shift, a consult shift, and a long ops shift (where you have no routine morning appointments, only admits). You will have one of each shift every week so there is plenty of opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge. A consultation-only role could be accommodated if desired.

The night team also offers twilight consultations between 7 pm to 9.30pm, which means day vets don't get held up with those last-minute calls and can leave on time. The weekend rota is just 1:4 and you'll get a half day on the Friday before and the Monday following the weekend worked. There is a Saturday consulting shift between 9 am to 12.30pm, and then you will be on call for the weekend daytime only, with the night team taking over at 7 pm. If you are less experienced or need an extra pair of hands, there is always backup available and someone to offer advice.

The practice is surrounded by scenic countryside with both the Norfolk coast and the Broads National Park just 20 minutes away, so whether you fancy a walk through woodland, sitting on the beach and watching the seal colonies, or taking part in a variety of water sports and outdoor activities, there is plenty to do in your spare time. The train station is just a 2-minute walk from the practice and provides an easy commute from Norwich with a direct train taking just 20 minutes.

You will find a superbly equipped facility with:
• Separate cat, dog and exotic pet waiting areas and wards
• Air conditioning throughout
• Onsite CT Scanner
• Laser Therapy unit
• Diagnostic suite with digital X-Ray
• Endoscopy
• Ultrasound
• ECG
• In-house lab
• Full equipped theatres
• Dental suite and more

The role:
• 4 day working week; 8:30am - 7pm
• 1 in 4 weekends
• Minimal OOH as majority is covered by the dedicated night team
• 15 minute consults with varied case load with plenty of medical, surgical and diagnostic work ups!

The candidate:
You will be a confident and competent individual with at least 2 years UK experience. There will be the opportunity to follow up your own cases with support from senior vets if needed. Interest in exotics is a bonus but not essential.

The best bit:
• Extremely competitive salary up to £70,00 DOE
• Generous CPD funding and support (Certificates encouraged).
• Private healthcare
• RCVS/ VDS fees paid
• Company sick pay
• Cost price treatment for your own pet
• Holiday 20 days plus BH increasing with years of service up to 25 plus BH after 12 months.
