We are now looking for a UK-based VP, Director of Medical Editing to provide expert editorial leadership, guidance and support in developing and ensuring best practice in medical communications for internal colleagues, external clients and relevant external organisations.

Acting as a leader and advisor within the company, you will drive editorial excellence across the communication mix and provide high-level editorial support within and across accounts, as well as across the wider business. You will also collaborate with senior colleagues and agency Leadership Team members, contributing through others to achieve success.

You will support the team by:

- Ensuring the training, development and performance management of all line reports across the Editing team, through effective leadership and line management.

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.
- Acting as a role model for leadership within the agency and across the wider business, and collaborating with senior colleagues.
- Proactively challenging current editing practice within the agency and across the company to ensure the efficient and appropriate use of editing resources, appropriate scheduling of work within the team and through liaison with Studio, ensuring the sharing of best practice across accounts and other agencies.
- Leading projects, proactively planning and managing the effective use of editorial freelancers and participating in editorial staff recruitment.
- Providing high-level editing support across all accounts and project types, especially on complicated and/or challenging outputs.
- Liaising effectively with clients, external experts and journals, acting as point of contact for editor-led items and actively contributing to meetings.
- Contributing to project specifications/cost estimates/reconciliations, working closely with the Client Services Team.

Critical attributes for this role are strong leadership skills, excellent organisation and communication skills and an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment. Strong editing, project management and business development experience gained within medical communications is preferred, but relevant experience from other healthcare-affiliated industries will be considered.
