Weekend Veterinary Surgeon required at Scarsdale Vets, Pride Veterinary Centre

The Role

Scarsdale Vets Pride Park, Derby is looking for a weekend veterinary surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role is a unique opportunity to see a diverse and steady case load as we cover OOH for our own practices and a number of surrounding practices. If you enjoy ECC and the challenge of non-routine cases then this role could be exactly what you are looking for. We have an excellent range of facilities and equipment which contribute to a high standard of patient care.

The weekend team consists of covering consults and inpatient care/procedures.

Consults at weekends will primarily be for sick animals only and emergencies, with minimal routine work.

Inpatient care at weekends will be looking after the existing inpatients and undertaking procedures/emergency surgery as required e.g. foreign body removal, GDV, C-Section, dressing changes.

The working pattern is 1 in 2 weekends and there will be a mixture of shift patterns on a Saturday and Sunday. The exact shift pattern can be discussed at interview but will look something like this:

Ward Vet 1 - 7am to 5pm

Ward Vet 2 - 9am to 7pm

Float Vet (combo of wards/cons dependent on need of day) 8.30am to 6.30pm

Cons Vet - 8am to 6pm

Salary £800 per day subject to experience plus benefits

You will solely be based at our Pride Park hospital, supported by an excellent client care team and weekend nursing teams, with support from the referral team if you need to refer over the weekend.

The Team

The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service. We have 8 practice sites in addition to the hospital.

We have a talented and enthusiastic experienced team of veterinary surgeons supported by an exceptional team of RVNs, student veterinary nurses, veterinary care assistants and client care advisors.

All our stand-alone practices are RCVS approved. Our main hospital is well equipped with a CT scanner, MRI, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, digital
x-ray, dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites, as well as an onsite hydrotherapy and rehabilitation centre and benefits from a multi-disciplinary specialist led referral service.

Applicant Requirements

Experienced small animal vet surgeon, good communication skills, ability to work independently and part of the team, desire, and passion to grow and progress in your career, must be RCVS registered.
